Adonthell - a Sourceforge Success Story

It is a fact that three things are necessary for the creation of an exceptional role playing experience. The first is amazing art. The second is an immersive environment. The third is killer code, the element that makes the other two come together. And thanks to SourceForge, Kai Sterker and Alexandre Courbot have been able to bring together an international team of programmers, writers, artists and musicians who promise to make Adonthell a truly exceptional role playing experience.

SourceForge made good sense. Kai and Alex had needs, and SourceForge had the solution. "To make it easier for everyone to access the code," said Sterker, "we needed a place for a CVS repository, and Sourceforge was the only candidate."

But SourceForge was more than that. With mailing lists, CVS and more, the Adonthell team was able to communicate like never before. Cirrus, head of graphics for Adonthell, saw the potential. "It was the other services that interested me. The various download charts and detailed information on the projects [and] the fact that they have consistently worked to improve these things with the job board and that improved categorising/rating highly commendable."

Commendable is right. Thanks to SourceForge, what was only a dream a short year ago is now the cherished project of more than thirty creative, talented people from around the world. From coding totally original combat and magic systems, to writing compelling characters, to composing the stunning Adonthell music, even so far as porting the game to BeOS, Adonthell has grown since moving to SourceForge. And with even more services such as bug tracking and support management Adonthell will make good on its potential to be a truly exceptional role playing experience.

Even if you're not a yeti.
