Development of Adonthell might not be the fastest, but as the project history shows, there has been quite some progress over the years. Reason enough to show in retrospect how things evolved.

Pre-Adonthell era (1998)

The Island   Before there was Adonthell, there was Genescroll. A tilebased, two-layered engine with additional sky layer. First using svgalib, then ggi as graphic library.

Adonthell is born (1999)

At the Witch's House   Genescroll changes name and look, but the underlying technology remains pretty much the same. The first release to the public. Possibly the most succesful in attracting programmers, musicians and writers.

Growing up (2000)

From the Intro   Switching from ggi to SDL and from C to C++ is a first step towards good, modular design. This release further adds an intro and cool music to otherwise unchanged "gameplay".
