There are a few ways to get in touch with us:
If you are looking for a more neutral opinion on Adonthell you might find it here:
There are certainly more Projects related to Free Software, Linux and
Roleplaying, but the following are among the most promising:
- Sigil is a pen & paper role playing game, played entirely over the web. It's the place to visit if you are looking for a real role playing experience.
- Exult is a game engine for
running Ultima 7 on modern operating systems.
- Worldforge is a
"Complete Gaming System for Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying".
- Falcon's Eye
provides a nice graphical interface for the classic Nethack.
- Nevrax, a commercial Roleplaying Game
with GPL'd source code.
- Dreamtides is still
early in development, but looks very promising.
- Pingus is no RPG, but certainly worth a visit. No more messing with UAE to play a decent game of Lemmings.
For a much more complete list see the Sourceforge project
map.
Without the fundamental work of other open source projects, the creation of
Adonthell would not be possible:
- Savannah is a "central point
for development, distribution and maintainance of Free Software. It allows
contributors to easily join existing Free Software projects."
- The Simple DirectMedia Layer, SDL for
short, a "cross-platform multimedia library designed to provide fast access
to the graphics framebuffer and audio device."
- Ogg Vorbis, a "fully
Open, non-proprietary, patent-and-royalty-free, general-purpose compressed audio
format for high quality audio."
- Python, an easy to learn,
interpreted, object oriented programming language.
- GTK+, a "multi-platform toolkit for
creating graphical user interfaces, primarily designed for the X Window
System."
- SWIG (Simplified Wrapper and Interface
Generator), a "software development tool that connects programs written in
C, C++, and Objective-C with a variety of [...] common scripting languages such
as Perl, Python, Tcl/Tk, Ruby, Guile and MzScheme".
- Doxygen, a "documentation
system for C++, Java, IDL (Corba, Microsoft and KDE-DCOP flavours) and
C."
- Valgrind, an "open-source memory debugger for x86-GNU/Linux".
- Glade, a "free user interface
builder for GTK+ and GNOME"
These sites provide valuable information on everything related to Game
Development.
- The LGDC (Linux Game
Development Center) is the first address for open source adepts.
- Gamasutra, the "Art
& Science of Making Games".
